In 1974 La Strada opened the first of several
locations in Charlotte, North Carolina. Starting as a small
family business specializing in New York style brick oven
pizza and traditional Italian cuisine; word quickly spread

Jim is a native of Lake Lure. His home,
Pine Gables, is listed on the National Historic Registry, has
been owned by Jim’s family for more than one hundred years
and has been a tourist lodging facility for more than two hundred
years. Jim enjoys photography, water sports, bicycling and community
service. Along with serving as Mayor of Lake Lure and maintaining
Pine Gables, Jim is a real estate broker for Bald Mountain Realty.

Lake Lure is approximately
720 acres, with about twenty-one miles of shoreline. National
Geographic has called Lake Lure one of the most beautiful
man-made lakes in the world.
Located in Western North Carolina, Lake Lure
sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge. East of Asheville,
the Rocky Broad River tears its way in a series of rapids
down through Hickory Nut Gap. This crystal clear water flows
through a valley shaped roughly in the form of a Maltese cross
to make Lake Lure.
Great stretches of water, three long bays,
an island of seven acres and many small bays and inlets with
a background of tree clad hills and mountains.
The climate is unusually good as Lake Lure
lies in the "Thermal Belt."

Biltmore House took
6 years and 1,000 men to build. With just over 4 acres of floor
space it contains 250 rooms, 65 fireplaces, 43 bathrooms, 34
bedrooms, and 3 kitchens. The massive stone spiral staircase
has 102 steps and in its center suspended by a single bolt is
an iron chandelier containing 72 electric light bulbs. TheBanquet
Hall is 74 feet by 42 feet and the dinner table could seat as
many as 64 guests. The meals served there were usually 8 courses
and required 15 utensils per person to eat.
You can tour the mansion and the grounds (designed
by Frederick Law Olmsted), enjoy estate-raised foods, and savor
award-winning vintages at Biltmore's winery.

The 1892 Queen Anne
